Beautiful fall weather has come to the Texas gulf coast. We are enjoying cooler temperatures, and sunny days. Dramatic fall colors occur well to our north, but we still have some trees that change with the seasons. God’s greatness and grace may be observed on the macro and the micro levels. It is seen in the sweeping vistas of the American Southwest, and also in the quiet solitude of our backyard (where I presently sit while composing this message)—with the gentle breeze caressing the wind-chimes, and the last flowers of summer highlighted in the setting sun.
My body tells me I am getting older. I exercise strenuously and try to maintain a schedule of running 10 k/m five days of each week. However, I am getting slower, which is frustrating (on one level) yet expected for a sixty-five year old. Fatigue is a frequent companion. Work takes longer. Time is precious. Each day holds promise and prospects. While I strive to make the most of daily opportunities, I wish I could accomplish more. Yet, while progress comes slowly, we do what we can.
